The church family in East Jamaica Conference (EJC) is mourning the passing of Pastor Devon Osbourne, former Executive Secretary who  died  on Friday, January 21, 2022 just fifteen days after his beloved wife  Dorett Osbourne  passed away.

The death of Pastor Osbourne created shock waves across the constituency and ministerial fraternity not only in EJC  but across the Seventh-day Adventist church in Jamaica. He had spent most of his life as a servant of God in ministry having served as a minister of religion for 44 years up to the time of his retirement in 2015.

In reacting to the news of  his passing, EJC President, Dr. Eric Nathan said Pastor Osbourne  was a man of God  who loved to preach the Word of God. He had the distinction of being one of the longest serving pastors in the Conference and he had a deep love for his wife and children.  “I am saddened at his passing and look forward to seeing him again when the Lord returns,” Nathan said.

Pastor Meric Walker, Executive Secretary at Jamaica Union Conference remembered Osbourne as one who reflected the joy of the Good News that  he preached for decades. He had an undisguised abiding confident radiance on his countenance, Walker recalled noting that he was a model man of God in ministry.

“Pastor Linton Williams remembered Osbourne as a man with a good heart who meant well for his younger colleagues. He like Pastor Meric Walker felt Osbourne was an ethical team player who was not afraid to "Call a spade a spade".
