The Rollington Town Seventh-day Adventist Church’s Community Services Department hosted its annual treat on Sunday, November 21, 2021. Since 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the treat replaced the department’s annual banquet. The event catered to persons in need within the community, shuts-ins, and other church members as well as those in other entities namely, children residing at the Reddie’s Home of Safety, and officers from the Giltress Street and Vineyard Town Police Station and the Rollington Town Fire Station.
Members of the department, under the leadership of director, Mrs Kaydean Murray Hutton, got to work preparing care packages of non-perishable items at church while gifts were prepared during the previous week. On the morning of the treat, a variety of meal options were prepared by the members.
Officers of the Giltress Street Police Station, Vineyard Town Police Station and the Rollington Town Fire Station were treated to fruit cakes and non-alcoholic wine. Gift packages, consisting of toys, notebooks, crayons, and non-alcoholic wine were delivered to the Reddie’s Home of Safety.
Shut-in church members, residents of the Golden Age Home as well as persons in need in the community and church, received care packages, gifts and meals. The gifts consisted of toiletries including, rubbing alcohol, face masks and wipes, while the care packages included food items such as rice, flour, cornmeal, and canned goods.
All our praise and thanks to God for using us to have this treat. The items were greatly appreciated by all who received same. All our thanks to all who contributed, assisted and participated in one way or the other for us to support the Rollington Town community.
