KINGSTON, JAMAICA (September 12, 2026) — Hundreds of Seventh-day Adventist tertiary students, educators, and youth leaders gathered at the Jamaica College Auditorium today for Public Campus Ministries (PCM) Welcome Day. Jointly organized by the Jamaica Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists (JAMU) and the Adventist Laypersons' Services and Industries (ASI) East Chapter, in partnership with the East Jamaica Conference (EJC), the 8th staging of the convention mobilized students navigating public universities, colleges, and other public tertiary institutions under the localized theme, "Filled to Overflow: Educated to Serve."
Keynote Address & Spiritual Foundation
Delivering the keynote sermon, Pastor Dwayne Scott, the recently installed Youth Ministries Director of JAMU, charged students with a three-part spiritual foundation for campus life:
- God’s timing is perfect, even when His promises seem invisible.
- When you honour God, He will honour you.
- "This time next year, you will be able to testify of your miracle!"
The auditorium filled with emotion as the entire congregation responded in unison: "THIS TIME NEXT YEAR!!!"
Evangelistic Road March Impact
Following the sermon charge, the centerpiece of the day was a highly successful evangelistic road march surrounding Jamaica's two largest public institutions—The University of the West Indies (UWI) and the University of Technology (UTech). Moving in two contingents accompanied by the Pathfinder marching band, one group marched from Liguanea to Jamaica College while the second covered the Papine dormitory and transit hub. Participants actively engaged commuters, residents, and university peers through direct literature distribution, prayers, and words of hope.
Afternoon Student Development & Closing Vesper
The afternoon program focused on practical student development, featuring direct networking to establish Adventist Fellowship (AdFEL) campus chapters, senior students' testimonies on maintaining Sabbath-keeping practices during secular exam schedules, and relatable presentations on Mental Wellness and Preparedness by Dr. Karen Powell. Blaine Stoddart, who traveled from Pennsylvania to share his extensive business experience, delivered a featured presentation on professional ethics to encourage the student body.
The program concluded with a moving Vesper charge presented by Okere Bremmer, president of the AdFEL chapter at Church Teachers' College, followed by an electrifying short musical explosion by H.U.M.B.L.E.
