THOMAS, Jamaica — In a world where values are constantly challenged, societal pressures continue to shift, and young people face competing voices seeking to shape their identities, the East and Central Jamaica Conference (EJC) Zone 4 Youth Federation stood firm in its mission to inspire a generation rooted in Christ. From October 4–10, 2026, young people from across the Zone gathered for a transformative week of worship, prayer, fellowship, community outreach and celebration under the theme, “Kingdom Influencers Unshaken: Standing Firm in a Changing World.”
The week began with a grand health fair at the Yallahs Seventh-day Adventist Church grounds, where members of the church and the wider community benefited from free health checks designed to promote greater awareness of their physical well-being. The initiative provided an opportunity for individuals to assess aspects of their health and recognise the importance of taking proactive steps towards healthier living.
Following the health fair, the federation launched into a series of spiritual and community-focused programmes, challenging young believers to look beyond the instability of the world and build their lives on the unchanging foundation of God's Word. Through powerful sermons, meaningful testimonies, mental health awareness, vibrant music and community engagement, the programme reinforced a vital message: while the world may change, those who are rooted in Christ can remain unshaken.
A Changing World, An Unchanging God
The week continued on Sunday night, October 4, at the Yallahs Seventh-day Adventist Church, where an atmosphere of praise, reflection and spiritual renewal set the tone for the days ahead.
The service featured an engaging song service and a formal colour party procession, adding a sense of reverence and purpose to the opening gathering. Recognising that the challenges young people face extend beyond the spiritual, the programme also included a mental health feature presented by guidance counsellor Mr. Joel Logan. The segment highlighted the importance of mental and emotional well-being as young people navigate the demands, uncertainties and pressures of modern life.
The evening's spiritual highlight came from guest speaker Pastor Rupaul Livingston, who delivered a transformational message under the sub-theme “A Changing World.”
Drawing lessons from the biblical experiences of Daniel and Job, Pastor Livingston challenged the youth to develop a faith that could withstand adversity, uncertainty and pressure. Daniel's unwavering commitment to God in a foreign and hostile environment demonstrated the importance of remaining faithful even when the surrounding culture encourages compromise. Job's experience, meanwhile, illustrated the endurance required to trust God through seasons of profound difficulty and unanswered questions.
The message called young people to resist the temptation to conform simply to gain acceptance. Instead, they were encouraged to become bold kingdom influencers whose decisions, conduct and convictions reflect the character of Christ.
The opening service established a strong foundation for the week, reminding attendees that being unshaken does not mean being untouched by life's challenges; it means remaining anchored in God despite them.
Kneeling in Prayer, Standing in Faith
On Wednesday night, October 7, the focus shifted to prayer at the Leith Hall Seventh-day Adventist Church, where the youth gathered for a service centred on spiritual resilience and dependence on God.
Hosts Romario Watson and Shelly-Ann Smith guided the congregation through a journey of prayer, leading different prayer sessions that provided opportunities for reflection, intercession and spiritual renewal. The programme emphasised prayer not merely as a religious exercise, but as an essential part of maintaining a strong relationship with God in a world filled with distractions and competing priorities.
Elder Wayne Bedward delivered the evening's message, titled “Standing Firm.” He challenged the youth to anchor their lives in biblical truth and maintain spiritual integrity in a society where compromising one's principles can often appear easier than standing for what is right.
The message reinforced the importance of developing convictions grounded in Scripture rather than shaped by popular opinion. Young people were encouraged to recognise that genuine spiritual strength is cultivated through a consistent relationship with God, a willingness to obey His Word and the courage to remain faithful when doing so is unpopular.
The evening served as a reminder that a life that stands publicly for Christ must first be strengthened privately through prayer, devotion and trust in Him.
Unshaken Identity: Turning Personal Testimony into a Witness for Christ
Friday night, October 9, brought the federation to Morant Bay Seventh-day Adventist Church for an impactful vesper service under the sub-theme “Unshaken Identity: My Testimony.”
Despite heavy rainfall and flooded roadways, members made their way to the church for an evening dedicated to personal stories of faith, transformation and God's sustaining power. Their presence reflected the commitment of a community determined to gather, worship and encourage one another despite challenging conditions.
The programme created space for raw and honest personal testimonies, allowing individuals to share experiences of God's faithfulness and the lessons learned through life's difficult seasons. These accounts reinforced the truth that a testimony is more than a story about the past; it is a witness to God's continuing work in the lives of His people.
A major feature of the evening was a transparent question-and-answer session with EJC Seventh-day Adventist Conference President, Pastor Dr. Melvin Francis. The interactive discussion provided an opportunity for youth to engage openly, ask questions and receive guidance on matters relevant to their spiritual development and Christian identity.
Pastor Francis also delivered a powerful message encouraging the youth to use their testimonies to keep their identities firmly grounded in Christ. He challenged them to understand that their experiences, struggles and victories could become instruments through which others encounter hope and discover the transforming power of God.
The evening's message was particularly relevant to a generation often pressured to define itself by social acceptance, personal achievements, online popularity and the expectations of others. The youth were reminded that their identity in Christ must remain their foundation, regardless of how circumstances or public opinion may change.
The service closed with a renewed call for young people to embrace their divine calling, live authentically and allow their testimonies to influence their homes, churches and wider communities for Christ.
A Sabbath Celebration of Kingdom Influence
The week culminated on Sabbath, October 10, at Hampton Court Seventh-day Adventist Church, where youth from across Zone 4 gathered for a day of worship, fellowship, service and celebration.
The morning divine service brought together young people, church leaders and members in an atmosphere of praise and thanksgiving. It was both a spiritual climax to the week and an opportunity to celebrate the dedication, participation and contributions of the youth throughout the Zone.
Pastor Dwayne Scott, Youth Director of the Jamaica Union Conference, delivered the divine message, challenging the young people to become uncompromising agents of God's Kingdom. His message reinforced the responsibility of Christian youth to stand for biblical principles, live with conviction and represent Christ faithfully in every sphere of life.
The charge was clear: kingdom influence must extend beyond the church service. It must be visible in the classroom, workplace, home, community and every space where young people have an opportunity to make a difference.
Following the divine service, the uniformed organisations took centre stage with an impressive march-past presentation that showcased their discipline, coordination and commitment. The presentation provided an opportunity for participants to display their talents and demonstrate the value of teamwork, preparation and service.
Taking Praise to the Streets
As the afternoon unfolded, the celebration moved beyond the church grounds and into the wider community.
A vibrant road march travelled from Hampton Court to Duckenfield Primary School, featuring the Zone 4 Drum Corps, Pathfinders, youth leaders and church members. The procession brought energy and visibility to the federation's outreach, carrying its message of hope and Christian witness into the surrounding community.
At Duckenfield Primary School, the gathering continued with a soul-stirring singspiration session led by music ministers from across the Zone. Through music and praise, the participants created an atmosphere of worship that invited community members to share in the celebration and experience the message of the gospel.
The outreach demonstrated that the call to be a kingdom influencer is not confined to a pulpit or sanctuary. It also involves going into the community, connecting with people and using one's gifts to share the love of Christ.
The road march and singspiration brought the federation's mission into public view, illustrating how young people can use their energy, talents and collective witness to encourage others and point them towards God.
Fellowship, Fun and Lasting Memories
After a week of worship, ministry, planning and participation, the Sabbath celebrations concluded with an energetic social led by the Zone's Social Master, Elder Rueben Smith.
The social provided an opportunity for the youth to relax, connect with friends from across the Zone and enjoy a period of recreation after the week's activities. Through laughter, interaction and fellowship, the gathering strengthened relationships among the young people and celebrated the spirit of unity that had characterised the federation's programme.
The event served as a fitting conclusion to a week that balanced spiritual growth with meaningful fellowship, reminding participants that a strong Christian community is built not only through worship and service, but also through the relationships and shared experiences that unite its members.
For those wishing to relive the highlights, videos of the week's activities are available on the EJC Zone 4 Federation YouTube channel, allowing members and supporters to revisit the moments of worship, inspiration and celebration.
The World Is Changing. The Mission Remains
From the health fair at Yallahs to the final moments of fellowship at Hampton Court, the 2026 EJC Zone 4 Youth Federation Week delivered a consistent and compelling message: young people can influence a changing world without allowing the world to change their commitment to Christ.
Each programme contributed to that message in a distinct way. The health fair demonstrated the importance of caring for the community's physical well-being. Pastor Rupaul Livingston challenged the youth to remain faithful in a changing world. Elder Wayne Bedward emphasised the importance of standing firm through prayer and biblical conviction. Pastor Dr. Melvin Francis encouraged them to use their testimonies to strengthen their identity in Christ, while Pastor Dwayne Scott called them to become uncompromising representatives of God's Kingdom.
Together, the messages and activities highlighted that being unshaken does not mean refusing to grow, ignoring challenges or remaining unaffected by the realities of life. Rather, it means allowing one's faith to remain secure in God while responding to change with courage, wisdom, integrity and compassion.
As the youth return to their schools, homes, churches and communities, the challenge extends beyond the conclusion of Federation Week. They are called to be more than spectators in a changing world; they are called to be active influences for good, guided by the principles of God's Word and empowered by His Spirit.
The 2026 Zone 4 Youth Federation Week was more than a series of programmes; it was a call to action for a generation to stand firm, live boldly and influence the world for the Kingdom of God.
The trends may change. The culture may shift. The challenges may intensify. But a generation anchored in Christ can remain unshaken.
