Greetings My Fellow Believers, blessings upon you and family,
“If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward.” ~ Martin Luther King Jr. This week join me in recognising and affirming one of our youths who by the grace of God, through difficulties, positively kept moving forward.
Sayeed Bernard
“Higher than the highest human thought can reach is God’s ideal for His children. Godliness—godlikeness—is the goal to be reached. Before the student there is opened a path of continual progress, an object to achieve, a standard to attain that includes everything good, pure, and noble. Students will advance as fast and as far as possible in every branch of true knowledge. But their efforts will be directed to objects as much higher than mere selfish and temporal interests as the heavens are higher than the earth.” –Ellen White.
On behalf of the Conference, I salute and affirm Sayeed Bernard, one of our model young people. Sayeed is currently an attorney in waiting, Radio Broadcaster and Motivational Speaker, and co-host of Youth Mission Live on EJC Virtual Church.
Sayeed has been awarded several times for Leadership, including the UWI’s Premier Award for Leadership and was appointed as the Governor General IBI Ambassador, after having led as the President of the Junior Adventist Laypersons Services and Industries, President and Team Captain of the UWI Debating Society, and chief of his achievements, Caribbean Record Breaking Head Delegate to Harvard Model United Nations, and having earned 10 awards over 2 years, leading a team of 20 delegates from 3 Caribbean Countries to Harvard.
Sayeed was also ranked as the 6th Best Public Speaker in the World in 2019 at the Worlds University Debating Championship held in Thailand.
As a hobby, Sayeed has participated in many international missionary trips as one of his passion projects which sees him feeding the homeless, building houses and community clinics in countries such as Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Belize, Suriname, Panama, and this year, Curacao. Sayeed also finds ways and means to give back in time and talent to his Alma Mata, St. George’s College. He is emboldened by his former humble upbringing but relentless for success.
Congratulations
EJC congratulates Brother Bernard and all our youths who love their Lord, are active in His church, and are progressive in their studies and careers. Happy Sabbath!
