PRESIDENT’S PULSE

“We are stronger when we listen, and smarter when we share,” Rannia Al-Abdullah.

Digital Media Coordinator at East Jamaica Conference, Ruth-Ann Brown, fell in love with Communication while studying to become a  Medical Technologist at the University of Technology (UTECH), Jamaica. She was the Public Relations Officer for the College of Health Sciences. However, after graduating with honours, her BSc degree could not  land her an interview in the field of her studies. As though God was re-directing her life, the Medical Technology door was closed and another was opened.

At  her home church, the Washington Garden’s Seventh-day Adventist Church, Elder Colin Roach, then Communication Secretary, handed Ruth-Ann a camera and the rest is history. She was asked to serve as her church's Communication Secretary and a series of God ordained events landed her as a volunteer in the Communication Department at EJC.

Her five years of employment sees her fulfilling her duties as a prolific graphic designer, social media content producer, maintaining the EJC Website inclusive of its churches and schools, and dabbling into other technical and production work.

At the 5th IAD Pathfinder Camporee, at the Trelawny Multipurpose Stadium, Ruth-Ann was not only asked to serve on the news team but also to teach Social Media Honours to hundreds of pathfinders attending the five-day event.

The twist and turns of Ruth-Ann’s life embedded in God, helps her to realize that ‘creativity takes courage’ Henri matisse.

COMMENDATION

Kudos to the EJC Communication team led by  Pastor Phillip Castell, with Leon Ffrench, Ruth-Ann Brown, Sophia Dormer and a host of multi talented volunteers  who have been instrumental in playing their role in the big production picture of the IAD Pathfinder Camporee.  Their work in ensuring the good news, that  Ellen G. White speaks off, “that we must take every justifiable means to bring the light before the people.  Let the press be utilized, and let every advertising agency be employed that will call attention to the work…”, is embraced with passion.

The EJC Communication team's  creative, dynamic, sacrificial work has attracted  many to appreciate the message of salvation in the diverse way it has been presented. As a church we celebrate, affirm and commend them for their exceptional work.

Wherever you are on this beautiful Sabbath, take time to savor your worship experience, for God is with us.
